Fuels imported from China in Upper Mustang

The transport entrepreneurs in Upper Mustang have imported euro-4 fuels of petrol and diesel from Tibet, the autonomous part of People’s Republic of China.
The entrepreneurs have imported the fuels as per their need in Lho Manthang, Ghami, Surkhang, Chhoser and other areas to run motorcycles, jeeps and goods carrying trucks.
Trader Pasang Gurung of Lho Manthang said that Nepalis are bringing the fuels from the depots in Dhongwasen district of Tibet.
With the opening of track of Kali Gandaki corridor upto Korala checkpoint in the district, the number of vehicles in the Upper Mustang has also increased in the recent days.
However, most of the motorcycles running in the upper part in the district are illegal as they bear the Chinese number plates.
It is said that the local entrepreneurs in the district have stored the fuels for nearly six months and there is no fuel shortage in Mustang. RSS

Bangladesh bans Facebook, chat apps for security reasons

DHAKA, Nov 24, 2015 (AFP) – Bangladesh authorities insisted Tuesday an almost week-long ban on Facebook and mobile messaging services would remain until security in the tense country improved.
The government last Wednesday ordered Facebook, WhatsApp and Viber blocked over fears of unrest after the country’s highest court rejected appeals by two top opposition leaders against the death penalty for war crimes.
The telecoms regulator said the ban would stay after the two leaders were hanged on Sunday morning, prompting calls for a nationwide strike and raising fears of violence from their supporters.
“They (services) will be reopened the moment the government feels it’s safe,” Shahjahan Mahmud, chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, told AFP.
Commission spokesman Zakir Hossain Khan declined to confirm media speculation the ban would be lifted later Tuesday.
Analysts said the shutdown was aimed at stopping opposition parties organising rallies in the run-up to the executions, amid anger over what rights group have called “flawed and unfair” war crimes trials.
The regulator also temporarily banned messaging services Viber and Tango in January after they became a popular way of mobilising large numbers of activists for anti-government protests.
Bangladesh hanged Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, from the country’s biggest Islamist party, Jamaat-e-Islami, and Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, a key aide of opposition leader Khaleda Zia, after they were convicted of atrocities during the 1971 war against Pakistan.
Similar convictions in 2013 triggered the country’s deadliest violence since independence, with some 500 people killed — mainly in clashes between Jamaat activists and police.
Protests held this week have been largely peaceful. But two Islamist students were beaten to death on Tuesday in the western city of Jessore, a police chief told AFP, with Jamaat blaming members of the ruling Awami League.
Bangladeshis slammed the ban on Twitter, saying it was curbing free speech and further fuelling anger against the government.
Bangladesh’s fast-growing online retail industry said the ban has hit their business, with some reporting reduced sales.

“It was fun because I don’t get to do that in real,” Deepika told reporters here.

I have learnt a lot and most importantly reached a stage in my life today where I really enjoy my craft and I enjoy spending time in front of the camera and milking that,” the actress said.

FBI Acknowledges ISIS Threat for WWE Survivor Series

Following the release of a report that ISIS may be planning a terrorist attack Sunday in Atlanta at Philips Arena during WWE’s Survivor Series event, the FBI reportedly acknowledged the threat Saturday.
FBI have taken threat Seriously
According to Mark Winne of WSB-TV, an FBI source informed him that the threat is being taken seriously.
Despite that, a source told Winne there is no active plot regarding an attack at Survivor Series. The FBI subsequently released a statement to WSB-TV as well:
The FBI is aware of reports of an alleged threat that includes an Atlanta, Georgia venue and event. While we take all threats seriously, we do not have specific or credible information of an attack at this time. We have, however, made the proper notifications as we continue to work closely with our law enforcement and private sector partners to keep our community safe.
News of the potential threat first came to light Saturday in a post by OpParisIntel—which is part of the hacker group Anonymous—on PasteBin.com (h/t IBTimes.com).
Per the post, intelligence suggests ISIS may be planning further attacks in Paris as well as attacks in Italy, Lebanon and Indonesia on Sunday.
“WWE Survivor Series is currently scheduled as planned while we investigate the matter with federal, state and local authorities,” WWE said in a statement, per Liz Mullen of Sports Business Journal.
According to CNN.com, at least 128 people were killed and many more were injured in a terrorist attack in Paris last week.
Per WSBTV.com, Winne reported that Georgia Emergency Management Agency director Jim Butterworth is in contact with the FBI regarding the threat at Survivor Series.
“His agency is working closely with the FBI, the Georgia information sharing and analysis center and others in evaluating the threat on a Sunday WWE event in Atlanta reported by the group Anonymous,” Winne said.
Details surrounding the threat are scarce, but plans remain in place for Survivor Series to move forward Sunday night.

UN Secretary General calls for lifting blockade

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has once again underlined Nepal’s right to free transit and urged all sides to end the blockade at border checkpoints.
“The Secretary-General underlines his growing concern over the blocking of essential supplies on the Nepal-India border,” read a statement attributed to Ban’s official spokesperson, issued by UN Headquarters yesterday.
This is the second time the UN chief has officially called all stakeholders to end the protracted disruption of supplies across the Nepal-India border.
Ban, on November 10, had also expressed deep concern about the humanitarian crisis Nepal has been facing due to the blockade and disruption of essential supplies, including medicine and fuel.
The Secretary-General made this latest call after the agitating Madhesi front destroyed cargo freights carrying life-saving medicine and set an ambulance carrying an ailing child on fire yesterday.
“He is alarmed by reports of the obstruction and destruction of life-saving medical supplies and the continued impact on humanitarian operations,” Ban’s spokesperson added. Ban also called on all sides to lift these restrictions without f, according to the statement.

UN Convention on Transit Trade

As per the UN Convention on Transit Trade of Land-locked States, it’s the obligation of the transit countries to provide unhindered access for transport of goods to any land-locked country like Nepal up to the sea ports.
Ahead of planned protests on November 21, Ban further stressed the importance of dialogue and non-violence, as well as respect for peaceful protest and the freedom of assembly.
He urged all sides to resolve their differences in a peaceful manner and reiterated the support of the United Nations to Nepal’s efforts to build a democratic, inclusive, peaceful and prosperous future.
Due to the continued blockade of almost three months, even the essential goods that Nepal imported from third countries have been stopped at border checkpoints.

Obama resolves to defeat Islamic State

Obama on Sunday urged Americans not to “succumb to fear” or accept the threat of terrorism as a “new normal,” vowing as the United States intensifies its military campaign that defeating the Islamic State was “not only a realistic goal, we’re going to get it done.”
In a news conference closing a three-nation tour of Asia, Obama seemed to acknowledge the critique that he’s misjudged the threat of the Islamic State while at the same time challenging its validity, expressing resolve to defeat the terrorist network “with every aspect of American power” but later arguing the best way to do so would be to deprive it of the exalted status its leaders seek.

Obama Speaks:

At one point the president seemed to dismiss the radical group as “a bunch of killers with good social media” as he was asked to explain to the American people just how it should view the security threat it poses.
In addition to the military action and intelligence gathering, “the most powerful tool that we have to fight ISIL is to say that we’re not afraid,” Obama said, using an alternate term for the Islamic State. “To not elevate them, to somehow buy into their fantasy that they’re doing something important.”
Throughout his nine days overseas — a trip that ultimately takes him fully around the globe before returning to Washington Monday — the president’s characteristic drive to urge patience and restraint in a media and political climate that often tolerates neither has only been more difficult.
In a nearly hour-long press conference he repeatedly urged the public to take a long view of recent events, saying for instance that Americans should “catch our breath” amid a political storm over the prospect of accepting Syrian refugees. Obama said the kind of “prejudice” shown in the debate, including some “radical” ideas from Republican presidential hopefuls, “helps ISIL and undermines our national security.”
“And so even as we destroy ISIL on the battlefield — and we will destroy them,” he said, “we want to make sure that we don’t lose our own values and our own principles. We can all do our part by upholding the values of tolerance and diversity and equality that help keep America strong.”
Allowing Bashar Assad to continue leading Syria is ‘unimaginable,’ Obama says
Allowing Bashar Assad to continue leading Syria is ‘unimaginable,’ Obama says
The president did say it was understandable that Americans are afraid of the threat of terrorism. He invoked the memory of Nohemi Gonzalez, the 23-year-old Californian killed in Paris, as well as another American killed in the more recent attack in Mali — saying they reminded him “of my daughters, or my mother.”
“It is worth us remembering when we look at the statistics that there are beautiful, wonderful lives behind the terrible death tolls that we see in these places,” he said.
Still, Americans should “not accept the idea that terrorist assaults on restaurants and theaters and hotels are the new normal or that we are powerless to stop them.”
After returning to Washington Obama will meet with French President Francois Hollande to discuss the next steps in the international campaign against Islamic State after a series of attacks in Paris killed 129.
The president said there was increasing awareness on the part of the Russians that Islamic State represents a greater threat to them “than anything else in the region.” He has criticized President Vladimir Putin for being more interested in propping up President Bashar Assad than combating a terrorist threat that he said took down a Russian airliner; on Sunday he reiterated that Assad could not play a role in any solution to the Syrian civil war.
“There are large numbers of members of this coalition including President Hollande who agree with me on that,” he said.
