Kathmandu, Jan 10: The government is set to send a team including doctors to snowfall-affected northern part of Gorkha district today to take stock of the situation there.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, during a meeting held at his office at Singha Durbar today, directed Defence and Home ministers and high officials of security agencies to take stock of snowfall-triggered hardship of the April 25 earthquake survivors and do the needful in the rescue and relief.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Bhim Bahadur Rawal said that the meeting focused on ways to provide relief to people especially at quake-hit Barpak and Laprak suffering through increasing cold coupled with the snowfall. “The meeting decided to dispatch the team from the Defence and Home Ministries with essential medicines to Barpak and Laprak on an army helicopter,” he said.
Likewise, Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet said that the meeting also decided to send teams to other quake-affected hilly districts to provide immediate winter relief to quake survivors, adding that the teams will also provide tips on protection from cold.
